Challenge

Atos IT Solutions and Services, s.r.o., is a leading digital services provider operating in 72 countries, worldwide. Atos operates a Czech Republic core public administration system, which serves 8.5 million clients and contributes approximately one third of state budget revenues. To support this critical system and increasing numbers of clients and transactions, as well as improve effectiveness of money collection and distribution, Atos needed to:

• Provide sufficient and easily scalable performance to accelerate data processing.
• Ensure stability, security and permanent availability of the SAP HANA database solution.
• Allow for the implementation of new advanced analytical and reporting tools.
• Include full redundancy for a reliable failover.

Solution

Atos selected the converged Hitachi Unified Compute Platform for the SAP HANA Platform (UCP for SAP HANA), featuring:

• Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G400 and Hitachi Compute Blade (CB) 2500 chassis with CB520X and CB520H blades.
• Two identical environments in geographically separate locations to provide failover capability.
• Server and storage adapters for SAP HANA cockpit to ease management and monitoring.
• Certified support for SAP HANA.

Outcome

Implementing UCP SAP HANA has resulted in an acceleration of the entire system and improved reliability, availability and scalability. The new platform provides:

• Response times decreased to only 10% of previous response times.
• Reduced processing time from hours to seconds.
• Used database compression to reduce data volume by up to 70%.
