Collaborating closely, One Hitachi co-creates bespoke, comprehensive solutions to meet the unique needs of our customers.

Here is an example of how that looks with a video intelligence use case with one of our customers, Moreno Valley.

Intesh Singh, Digital Services on SSVI at Hitachi Vantara, said: “When Moreno Valley came to us, they had an ageing infrastructure that needed modernizing. Along with this, they wanted to implement a traffic management and video analytics solution.”

The result? 275 cameras throughout Moreno Valley City covering parks and intersections. Traffic is monitored in real time, enabling accurate signal adjustments to better manage the flow of vehicles across the city. And with the Hitachi Vantara solution integrated into the video monitoring software, when an incident is reported, the footage can be accessed and brought up on screen immediately to help responders deploy the right services more quickly.

Benefits that extend further

Now the city has a solution that goes beyond traffic management. The real-time video analytics is fed back to and stored in a 142TB server where it can be accessed with ease to help resolve disputes and crimes. As of September 2024, it had supported the investigations of over 800 crimes, acting as a force multiplier during a time of furlough, budget and force cuts.

It’s helped to create a safer, smarter city, solving problems that hadn’t even been foreseen.

Singh continued: “Data management is an integral part of what we do … many of our customers are looking for enterprise-wide solution … that’s when the addition of Hitachi Vantara servers and storage comes in to deliver a complete package. We have many software applications too, and this is where Hitachi Digital and Hitachi Vantara work together to seamlessly create and deliver smart spaces.”

This is demonstrated in our recent ENERGY STAR^® rating, with our solutions coming in first, second, third, fifth and seventh for energy-efficient data storage solutions. It’s all part of our ongoing commitment to reduce the energy consumption of our VSP solutions by 40% with each release.
