The Team

The Technical Presales Solutions Consultant (Presales Engineer) plays a key role in the customer solution architecting process, providing pre-sales solution technical expertise. This includes, but is not limited to: Working closely with the field sales organization, other consultants, and customer representatives, providing support ranging from product specification presentations to product value discussions; using project management and customer relationship skills to align Hitachi Vantara Technology solutions with customers' business strategies; demonstrating strong knowledge in one or more of Hitachi Vantara’s key initiatives with thorough knowledge of all solution areas.

The role
• Gathers data on customer business issues, analyses solutions, and employs this information in Hitachi Vantara engagements.
• Strong coordination, collaboration and business process mapping skills leveraged in working with the external customer and internal Hitachi Vantara teams (ITPro, Product Management, etc.) in development of solutions that address customers business requirements.
• Establish and maintain direct relationships with 3rd party providers to ensure revenue opportunities are maximized. 
• Actively supports company change programs and acts as a role model for solution selling.

What you’ll bring
• 10 years of experience in the Information Technology industry
• 7+ years of experience in a Consulting Presales role in the Storage Industry or in a High-Value Solutions Infrastructure company desired
• Strong coordination, collaboration and business process mapping skills
• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure technologies such as: Storage, Server technologies, Virtualization/VMware (ESX, vSAN, NSX, VCF,etc.), Containers (Kubernetes/Docker/OpenShift), Business Continuity, Data Protection, SAN, LAN/WAN Concepts and Architectures desired
• Experience with structured data data platforms and SQL methods for use in Data Platforms and Data Lakes Merchant Reporting desired.
• Enterprise applications knowledge like ERP, CRM, SAP/Oracle, etc. desired
• Track record of success in Business Technology related sales environment with excellent customer skills
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education needed or equivalent years of applicable experience
• Ability to develop and deliver well-structured presentations (including whiteboarding) with information appropriate for the desired audience
• Personable, Persuasive and Articulate – Able to represent Hitachi Vantara positively to customers, build positive relationships of influence, and ability to communicate well (written and verbally)
• Able to work independently and proactively, self-starter able to manage time/tasks effectively.

• Valid driver's license required. 50% travel

As required by the equal pay and transparency acts, the expected compensation for this position is: $160K-$180K base, $220K-$240K OTE.  The expected pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi Vantara’s sales target incentive and are subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.
